Tim Black has +25 years of finance and accounting experience. For the past 10 years Tim has been working as a fractional CFO, assisting growing companies in the area execute on business and investment plans. Tim was a founder of Cary Street Partners, an investment banking and wealth management firm. As founder, Tim advised companies on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising strategies, and more. Tim received his BS in Accounting from UR and an MBA from UVA’s Darden School of Business.
A graduate of the University of Richmond, Brad has been fortunate to participate in both the corporate and entrepreneurial worlds. Brad helped found human resources firm Monument Consulting and wine distributor Free Run Wine Merchants. Most recently he helped co-found a central Virginia angel network, a collection of over 200 angel investors in central Virginia, to help tie the investors to the early-stage companies. Brad helped found early-stage incubator The Annex and future incubator StartUp Virginia. Brad is a frequent angel investor with investments in over ten companies.
Hank Heyming has two decades of experience providing leadership and advice to dozens of emerging growth startups and multiple venture capital firms. He has served them in a variety of roles, including as a founder, an executive, a director, an advisor, an investor, and an outside legal partner. He was previously with TemperPack in Richmond, Virginia, and Upthere and Fungible, both based in Silicon Valley. Prior to this, he was a partner at the Richmond office of Troutman Sanders, where he focused on venture capital and technology matters. Hank earned a JD from Vanderbilt University and a triple-major BA in History, Religious Studies, and Political Science from the University of California, Riverside.
April Kim is the Funds Associate for Trolley Ventures. She has over 10 years of project management experience. Before joining Trolley Ventures, April provided marketing, sales and client relations support for a Richmond based realty group. Previously, she was a VP within the Marketing Business and Development Team for Bank of America Corp. April graduated from George Mason University and applies her extensive experience in project coordination and management to help execute the goals of the Trolley Ventures Fund.
Nick Pace has nearly 25 years’ experience advising businesses of all sizes on corporate, commercial and transactional legal matters. Nick currently serves as Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of Owens & Minor, Inc. Nick also served as interim CHRO of the company for nearly a year. Previously, he was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Amerigroup Corporation until it’s sale to Anthem Inc. Nick was also a founding partner of Guidon Partners, a healthcare private equity firm. Nick earned a JD and MBA from University of Richmond and a double-major BS in Accounting and Finance from Miami University.
Dr. Mark Rausch is an entrepreneur, investor and healthcare professional based in Richmond, Virginia. He has a professional background of over 20 years as an emergency physician and co-founded BetterMed Urgent Care, serving as Medical Director and CEO (2012-17). Mark is also one of the co-founders and board members of Skin Surgery Center of Virginia (started 2005), a dermatology practice and ASC focused on providing comprehensive skin care and plastic surgery. As of 2015, he showed an interest in entrepreneurial investments, backing up various start-ups that highlight the remarkably broad diversity of his portfolio, ranging from the health and biomedical industry, up to commercial spaces, restaurants, and technology.
Michael Saxon is an accomplished consumer products executive with over 20 years of experience growing F150 businesses in the USA, Europe, and Asia, both organically and through M&A. Michael is currently the CEO of SXN Strategy Partners. He founded the firm in 2017 to partner with Boards and the C-suite to provide business advice that creates profitable growth strategies and execution plans. Michael graduated from the University of Georgia with major in Marketing. He is a valued member of two private company boards and one non-profit.
A resident of the Richmond area for over 20 years, Tom has taken his executive experience from Capital One and PayPal and focused this time towards Virginia startup companies. An active mentor with Startup Virginia for the past two years, Tom has worked with over 50 local companies and engaged as an opportunistic investor in a handful of emerging Virginia firms. A graduate of the Naval Academy with a MBA from Duke University, Tom brings his leadership skills and customer focus to all of his engagements within the greater Richmond community.
